What we’re building

Buying a good gift is hard. Engift is a free, no-signup gift finder: you describe who you’re shopping for — “my outdoorsy dad who loves coffee” — and we search thousands of products across stores and surface the ones that actually fit, each with a short reason why. The same engine is available to merchants as a tiny, embeddable in-shop finder and wishlist.

The team behind Engift

We’re not first-time builders. The team behind Engift has spent the last decade designing, shipping and scaling software products out of Copenhagen — most of that time in commerce and hospitality tech, where getting recommendations and the customer experience right is the whole game.

Engift is led by founder Morten Lie Jørgensen together with a small team of engineers and product people. Between us we’ve co-founded and scaled SaaS platforms from zero to customers around the world, shipped products that businesses rely on every day, and mentored other founders on lean product building and partnerships. We come from full-stack engineering and product backgrounds — so the same playbook we’ve used before (small team, real engineering, ship fast, obsess over the end user) is what we’re pointing at gifting.

We’ve learned the hard way that the thing that wins isn’t a clever demo; it’s a product people quietly rely on. So we’re building Engift to be genuinely useful first, and loud second.

Why we love working on gifts

Here’s the honest reason we picked this problem: giving a good gift is one of the warmest things people do for each other, and it’s stressful far more often than it should be. Almost everyone knows the specific dread of the night before — scrolling endless tabs, settling for something safe, and quietly knowing it isn’t quite right.

We think that’s a shame, because the intent is always there. People want to get it right. What they’re missing is the time and the perfect memory of everything in every shop. That’s exactly the gap software is good at closing — and the moment we love chasing is small but real: the flicker of “oh, that’s perfect, how did I not think of that.” Helping more of those moments happen, for more people, is a thing we’re genuinely happy to spend years on.

How it works

Engift turns intent into matches with modern retrieval and ranking, not hand-built quizzes or category pages. Quality holds whether a catalog has 500 products or 500,000, and recommendations stay fast and cheap to run. We’re built EU-first: data hosted in the EU, processed under the GDPR, and every personal-data record supports export and deletion. We never put personal data or identifiers in URLs. Read the privacy policy.
